At the start of the twenty- first century it is clear that ’surveillance studies’ is a rapidly developing field of analysis and theory. Diverse practices and processes for dealing with personal data are multiplying, and the speed with which records can be accessed is accelerating. David Lyon, 2002
A new weblog about surveillance, technology and control initiated by Nils Zurawski of the Institute of Criminology at Universität Hamburg. The aim of this new platform is to create, support and extend a network of people from various disciplines (science, art, politics, privacy …) researching on the topic.

Wow, that’s even better than XXXL Surveillance. This Minority Report type of camera surveillance can predict your behaviour. I also love the term “crowd management”! Enjoy CROMATICA TR 1016 the Crowd Management with Telematic Imaging and Communications Assistance!
They use it already in London, Paris and Milano. I wonder if it can help to buy or sell you stocks before an terrorist attack happens. Via BBC (2002).

Wow. The Super Bowl XL brings along XXXL Surveillance.
Fans should expect to be checked by explosives-sniffing dogs, patted down, and scanned by metal detectors. The city banned parking in the central business district to make room for crowds of at least 65,000 people, prevent car bombings and keep roads clear for ambulances and police. Coast Guard dive teams and patrol boats are covering areas near the waterfront that are hosting Super Bowl parties. And some Canadian border enforcement officers have been deputized so they can make arrests on either side of the border.
Lovely! Check it out here.
