Wow. The Super Bowl XL brings along XXXL Surveillance.
Fans should expect to be checked by explosives-sniffing dogs, patted down, and scanned by metal detectors. The city banned parking in the central business district to make room for crowds of at least 65,000 people, prevent car bombings and keep roads clear for ambulances and police. Coast Guard dive teams and patrol boats are covering areas near the waterfront that are hosting Super Bowl parties. And some Canadian border enforcement officers have been deputized so they can make arrests on either side of the border.

Shy CCTV Camera Turns Away
While listenig to a lecture by Regine from We Make Money Not Art, I came across a fabulous project from 2003 hitherto unknown to me, the (in)security camera by Benjamin Chang, Silvia Ruzanka and Dmitry Strakovsky.
I really love this shyness when it can’t look a viewer in the eye. The most sympathetic surveillance camera ever.

Als ich einen Vortrag von Regine von We Make Money Not Art anhörte, bin ich auf ein fatastisches Projekt von 2003 gestossen das mir bislang unbekannt war, die (in)security camera von Benjamin Chang, Silvia Ruzanka and Dmitry Strakovsky.
I liebe diese Schüchternheit wenn sie einem Betrachter nicht in die Augen schauen kann. Die sympathischste Überwachungskamera schlechthin.
Auf jeden Fall den Film anschauen.

Larger Than Life
Larger than life. The Billboard Liberation Front tells us how and why it was done, but I suppose it is not a difficult guess. Ted Rheingold shows even more of the art project but unfortunately the link to the entire picture set is broken.
Überlebensgroß. Die Billboard Liberation Front (Werbetafel Befreiungsfront) sagt uns wie und warum es gemacht wurde, aber ich nehme an, es ist nicht schwer zu erraten. Ted Rheingold zeigt noch mehr von dem Kunst-Projekt aber leider ist der Link zum vollständigen Bilder-Set defekt.

[english] Let’s face it. We do not really detest CCTV surveillance. We are just envious of those who can watch others. But not anymore. With a small Google hack everybody can join the vojeuristic video surveillance club. I prefer the camera at this asian dog barber. I just wonder why it is called “PenisWart”…
[deutsch] Seien wir doch mal ehrlich. Wir verabscheuen Videoüberwachung nicht wirklich. Wir sind einfach neidisch auf jene die andere beobachten können. Nun nicht mehr. Mit einem kleinen Google Hack kann jede/r den Club der vojeuristischen Videoüberwacher beitreten. I bevorzuge die Kamera bei diesem asiatischen Hundefriseur. Ich frage mich allerdings warum das “PenisWart” heissen soll…
